More Information

FerPrime Rust Converter turns rust into a black corrosion resistant coating

This product from FUZE transforms unsightly rust into a rust-free black surface.

With one simple application, it will convert rust into a resin-like film and stop further rust and corrosion from forming.

Surfaces treated with Ferprime Rust Converter do not have to be repainted (although you can if you want)

Ferprime Rust Converter is applied directly to rust which then reacts to form a black, resinous layer that can resist further corrosion, protecting the underlying surface. If applied to a non-rusty iron surface it will still react to form a purple/black resin-like film which resists corrosion.

It is designed to be brushed onto the surface. It will give a coating thickness of around 20 to 30 microns.

Ferprime Rust Converter is a water-based product and drying times will vary according to ambient temperature and humidity. Normally surfaces are touch dry within  10 to 30 minutes.

Note that FerPrime Rust Converter is a reactive primer and time must be allowed for the product to react and form the black resinous layer.

If the FerPrime Rust Converter is not to be painted over, it is advisable to recoat with Ferprime after the initial coating has touch dried. This will give a final coating thickness of around 60 microns, which should be adequate for most conditions.

Ferprime Rust Converter can be thinned down with water if required, to enable its use in spray equipment. The amount of water that should be added will depend on the type of spray equipment being used.

Ferprime Rust Converter can be overcoated with a wide range of paint types using a brush, roller or spray.

How to use FerPrime Rust Converter

  1. Remove loose rust and corrosion by brushing with a wire brush
  2. Apply Ferprime with a paintbrush. 1  Litre should cover approximately 8 metres squared depending upon the surface being treated
  3. Allow to air dry – this normally takes 10 to 30 minutes depending upon ambient conditions.
  4. If coating twice ensure the first coat is fully dried before the second application
  5. Depending upon the temperature allow up to 48hrs to dry completely, we advise keeping the treated parts in temperatures of >12°C.

The coating thickness should be 20-30 microns.

Please Note: To avoid the product drying out please ensure that you replace the lid after use and store in a cool area. It may require stirring prior to use.
